    Col. Kittinger holds three world records from Aug 16, 1960: the highest parachute jump: 102,800 feet; the longest parachute free fall: 4 min 36 secs; and the first person to exceed the speed of sound without an aircraft or space vehicle; 714 mph during free fall.

    On Oct. 15, 1997 Andy Green drove the Thrust SSC to 763 mph.(Land vehicles were omitted from the question)
