Does anyone know how I might go about finding a list of the crew which were on board the HMS Curacao when she was cut in half and sunk by the Queen Mary?

    Question #59951. Asked by Linus_337.

Well, I suppose you might try contacting the Admiralty Administration, which surely has an archive or a records office, or at least can point you in the right direction. But since I don't happen to have a London directory handy, you're better placed, in Somerset, to find the address than I am.

For those who are wondering, this tragedy took place in 1942, when the Queen Mary was carrying thousands of American troops to Europe. She collided with and sliced through the escort cruiser HMS Curacao, and hundreds of the latter's crew died. The Admiralty apparently kept the incident from the public out of fear for the effect on morale:

Actually, I was once half-cut on Curacao...

I know, that was tasteless in every sense of the word.

There is a short article on the sinking in the current "Sea Classics" magazine.

I remember seeing on TV a long time ago about something where a woman matched people with certain colors, supposedly to bring about the best in you, like an orange shirt might help one person, but a green shirt might harm someone, and she stated it was very scientific, does anyone know the name of this procedure or where to find more information?

Does anyone know what happens to the contents of the toilets on aeroplanes. I was once told that they were jettisoned over the oceans but surely that can't be true. And for that matter what about on trains. Are they just scattered to the four winds except at stations when not in bounds?

Which is the source of this quote, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't slow down and look around, you might miss it"? I keep finding Ferris Buehler's Day Off listed as the source, but I swear it's from Field of Dreams. Anyone know for absolute sure?
