What was the Riech and why did Hitler want it assembled?

In German, "Reich" means "empire" or "realm." The term had been used in the context of Germanic imperialism for centuries. Hitler's Reich was called the "Third," because it followed the Holy Roman Empire and then the German Empire of 1871-1918.
As for why Hitler wanted to establish a "Third Reich," how much time do you have? This is a vast subject on which thousands of books have been written (among them Hitler's own "Mein Kampf"). I suppose you could start here:

Hitler believed that Germans should be masters of the world, he also believed that all Jews should be exterminated. By starting the Third Riech he began moving towards winning a war that he hoped would conquer the entire world.
Fortunately, Hitler and his Riech was defeated.
