In which US TV crime series is one of the characters named after a famous Asian number theorist?

Question #60036. Asked by gmackematix. (Oct 17 05 6:48 PM)

I think it is "Numb3rs" (starring Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz)... and the character is Amita Ramajuan, played by Navi Rawat.

I found a report in PDF form online that refers to a number theorist named Ramajuan... but am unable to find any other site that will show up easily here...

Yay, Josh! A series about a mathematician using his hard core maths sounds like an unlikely formula for a TV hit but it has run to a second season.

By the way, re-check the spelling of Amita's surname.
As she is named after one of the world's most famous mathematicians you shouldn't have trouble finding links.

Thanks Peasy and fair enough Josh.
Here's the wiki site that spells the character names correctly:

How can the official website, which spells the character name one way, be wrong??? I'm not disputing that the character is named for this numbers theorist, but I do question claiming that the so-called official website at CBS.com is somehow wrong in spelling a character name... I'd think they would know how their own characters' names are spelled.

Nor am I trying to say that official websites are always right, either... but, still...

It would be better to say that the wiki site uses the spelling of the famous number theorist as the character's name, rather than saying "they're right" when it clearly disagrees with the "official" website.

All I can say is shame on CBS for misspelling one of its own TV characters on its site. Although to be fair, the name has only been typed in once there.

Here is a list of characters in each episode. As these most likely originate from the credits of the program itself, I'd say the spellings are probably bona fide:
