A famous attempt to use Abba samples without permission was made by those anti-music industry menaces, the KLF, in 1987. Their album sampled "Dancing Queen". When the courts ordered the group to destroy all remaining copies they set fire to them in a Swedish longboat at 3am. The KLF then released the album without the offending samples and instructions on how to recreate the original. They later commemorated the burning with a song called "3AM Eternal" which was a UK #1 and a US #5 hit. Oct 18 05, 5:25 PM
