    Question #60117. pjotr asks:

Who decides which movies play at which theaters, because I am reading about this movie called Proof which came out not long ago with big name stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins yet how come hardly any theaters are playing it?

Well, 'Proof' was set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival last month, then it had a limited release. It's been about a month now, and I'm not sure if many more theatres are actually playing it anymore.

"Proof," which started as a play (and an extremely good one, too) has a limited audience owing to its intellectual theme and lack of exciting action scenes. It may be that many theater chains decided that it wouldn't be a big draw.
