Due to the way the question is worded, I might point out that there is no additional award or trophy presented when an actor wins a separate Oscar, Emmy and Tony, just as there is no additional award or trophy for the horse that wins the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Also, a distinct difference between these two terms is that the horse racing Triple Crown must occur during the same year, but the acting "Triple Crown" does not, although it has been done. Bob Fosse was the first person to win all three awards in the same year. In 1973 he won an Academy Award for directing the movie Cabaret (which also won a best actress Oscar for Liza Minnelli), three Emmy awards for directing, producing and choreographing Minelli's TV special Liza With a Z, and two Tony Awards for directing and choreographing the Broadway show Pippin. Thank you for responding McGruff! Frankly, in my search, I did find the info about Triple Crown horse racing and Bob Fosse; I thought that was very interesting. McGruff, just in browsing, I found approximately 18 people or more that have earned a Triple Crown Award in Acting. I do think there should be a definitive list but I haven't found an all in one list. Just some from one location to another. Again thanks for responding! Oct 24 05, 7:35 PM
