    Why are pop cans lined with a plastic coating?

    		I think it has to do with the health concerns of absorbing aluminum into your body... there were studies associating aluminum with Alzheimer's disease... which I think have since been disproven... but a lot of people stopped using aluminum cookware and anti-perspirant as a result of the initial study.

    		Most cans are lined with many different types of lacquers and plastics (some clear) to avoid acid and base products from reacting with the metal causing reduced shelf life and imparting unwanted flavor.
