Every fingerprint is unique, there are no common characteristics.

Yes, definitely no hearts or flowers on female fingertips, but their doodles are generally different, with men being more geometrical. Just an aside...

Hmm... Well, I can't see the page. I was just asking because I read that gay men's fingerprints look more like women's than hetero men, so obviously they would have to be different and I just wanted other sources.

Well, Alpha, I think you must have been looking at an article similar to the one mentioned on this site (scroll down to "Prints Put the Finger on Gays"). However, since that piece apparently appeared in 1998, and I haven't heard a thing about it since, my guess is that subsequent research didn't entirely support it.
On the other hand, the site's brief description of the article mentions possible prenatal hormonal influences on sexual orientation (and maybe fingerprints), and there has been some recent research about that. An L.A. Times Magazine story discussed it some months ago.

Sorry, that was actually a story in the Boston "Globe" Sunday Magazine.

I found the link that Josh had. I can't make heads or tails out of it either, but there seems to be nothing to do with sexual orientations, though. Just higher ridge patterns for males.

Thanks, peasy... I'm glad someone made sense of that site... *grin*

Hmm. Many scientific findings aren't heard about later so I don't know about that.
Thanks!
