Who made the official colour of China yellow?

    Question #60349. Asked by Priscilla9. (Nov 03 05 2:57 PM)

Yellow has always been a favored color in Chinese culture, for it represents the earth. The Chinese saying, Yellow generates Yin and Yang, implies that yellow is the center of everything. Yellow was the color of Imperial China, for it was used in the robes of emperors, as well as royal palaces, altars and temples.

To recognize yellow as an official color of China, the Central Communist Party of China incorporated it into China's new national flag on October 1, 1949, the day that the People's Republic of China was founded. It displays one large yellow star (the Communist Party), and four small yellow stars (the people of China) on a background of red, representing revolution.
