Can the tissue from vestigial organs such as the appendix be usefully employed in surgery on other parts of the body?

There are 2 procedures listed in literature: the Mitrofanoff procedure, and a similar procedure known as an appendicocolostomy. Both are used in reconstituting urinary function.

So if your bladder bursts, they graft on tissue from a organ that tends to rupture!
Still, I'm sure these surgeons know what they're doing. :)
