The traditional way of defining a still-life refers to "inanimate objects" but "inanimate objects in motion" should be excluded too as is done by http://www.umfah.utah.edu which has:"an arrangement of non-moving objects".The representation of a plane in the sky or of clouds would not be called a still-life.
Though it is easy to say list still-lifes usually include (flowers, fruit, foodstuffs, glasses, bottles, pipes, books, and other man-made objects), I think it is more difficult to find a single and complete term for what must be excluded. A number of ex-animate objects such as dead game, dead fish, dead insects, dead butterflies can be counted in, but I wonder if Chaim Soutine's carcasses of dead cattle can be called still-lifes.
I am still wondering if there is a single term for everything that must be excluded.
In my opinion a possible answer to the question is also: any type of human representation.
So I would exclude: anything in motion, anything animate and any kind of human representation.

I think it does. Including robboy. (Though motionless sex between inanimates sounds like
a good idea for a postmodernist version of a still-life)
