Who successfully sued the "seventh Python" and who was successfully sued by him?

Question #60539. Asked by gmackematix. (Nov 13 05 9:55 PM)

Neil Innes once sued the rock band Oasis for accusations of plagiarism.

And I reckon it must be the Beatles who may have sued him...

Just about a "yay" for that one.
He has always been a good friend of the Beatles but the American publishers of some of their songs sued him.

As for Oasis, they discovered they may be free to say whatever they like, but not to rip off someone else's tune.
Their "Whatever" turned out to be the same as Innes's "Sweet to be an Idiot". This was referenced in the Rutles "Archaeology" when their "Hey Jude" take off "Shangri La" sampled a bit of that "Whatever".
