    The oldest proven records of brewing are about 6000 years old and refer to the Sumarians.

    The jar...embedded in the earthen floor along one wall of a "kitchen" of a Neolithic mudbrick building, dated to ca. 5400-5000 B.C. (this is speaking of wine in the Neolithic period, 7000 years ago.)

    What about soup? It would be when someone tried boiling food as a method of cooking it.

    I would think wine from the accidental fermantation of fruit would antedate beer.
