If I'm reading the following website properly, it refers to a five shilling coin that has gothic lettering on it. The "crown" refers to the type of coin (I'm guessing because it has a crowned portrait of Queen Victoria), and the "gothic" refers to the type of lettering.

The first Crown, or five shilling piece was minted in 1526. As a child I can remember the half crown, 2 shillings and 6 pence, (or 12 1/2p).
The gothic part refers to a specific coin from the time of Victoria.
