    Daley Thompson held the world record from 1984 with 8847 points, but according to two sources the record was taken by Roman Sebrle, unless you're referring to a different competition.

    Thanks fixxer, looks like you can't always rely on wikipedia, as they missed out at least two between Sebrle and Thompson.

    The Wiki article you referenced doesn't "miss out" any as it says he only held that 1984 record for nine years.
    There are links to the other world record holders at the end of the article.
