    When did ice hockey originate?

    Question #6125. Asked by Matt.

    billfay

azhockey.com says that there are 17th century paintings which appear to show people playing hockey on ice in The Netherlands.

The media goes along with claims from Windsor, Nova Scotia that the game started there in 1800, first known as ice hurley and shortly afterward the name changed to ice hockey.
