That would surely depend on which country's charts you are talking about.
I don't know if any count as an "adaptation" but here is a site that lists a few covers of Chuck Berry songs: http://www.warr.org/berry.html

That site does mention a couple that were definitely adaptations and certainly top 10s in many countries.
John Lennon borrowed the first two lines of "Come Together" from Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me" and was successfully sued by Chuck Berry's management as a result.
"Surfin' USA" is a rewrite of "Rock and Roll Music". I think Chuck was credited for this so no lawsuit that time.
