Could be. Michael Keaton was born Michael Douglas and took his new name after reading an article on Diane Keaton. Diane Keaton (born Diane Hall) took her mother's maiden name. I can't find much evidence that she changed her name to avoid sharing it with another actress except for one entry in IMDb. Apparently, a Diane Hall played Jethro's daughter in "The Ten Commandments" and not much else. Mind you, I haven't seen where Stewart Granger (born James Stewart) took his stage name yet...
