I looked it up by the episodes...which would make Gunsmoke the answer. It has 633 episodes, and it ran from 1955-1975.

Would you call Days of Our Lives as TV show?! That series started in 1965 and is still spitting out drivel. Over 41 seasons, pushing over 10,000 episodes.

Then there's "Coronation Street" which has been going since 1960.
The record though, must be an American soap called "Guiding Light".
It started on the radio in 1937, moved to TV and is still going.
Mind you, these are year-round soaps and aren't made in "seasons" so I don't suppose they count.
