I've been asked to point out that "The Wind in the Willows" is the Maven's favorite childhood book and that he finds Mr. Toad utterly endearing. (Though I, personally, do think he's rather obnoxious.)

Dare I admit listening to the excellent children's programmes on Radio 4? They did a marvellous Wind in the Willows (as they do Dickens, Greek myths etc) and I learn more from them than I did at school as I find them so entertaining. Sadly shifted to digital only now at 3am so not so accessible as when on in the afternoon but just as good.
