In a certain language, a sentence about a coloured horse sighing demonic poetry is traditionally used as a test. What is the language and what is tested this way?

In Czech, the sentence "A very yellow horse screamed hellish odes" apparently contains all of the Czech letters with diacritical marks and presumably may be used to test typefaces. I'll have to take this site's word for it, since I know next to nothing about Czech:

I just looked at Wikipedia's Czech Language site and discovered that this sentence can also be translated "A too yellow horse moaned devilish odes." That comes a little closer to your description.

I don't know much about Czech either, except that they like using r's and l's without preceding vowels and that "ano" means yes.
