Canada and Mexico - no argument. Western Samoa isn't actually all that close to American Samoa, and the Bahamas might be closer. But if you count the American Virgin Islands as part of the USA, then they are closer by far to the British Virgin Islands than any of the others. Well, not vounting the embassies then. People do swim from Cuba to the US (it's within earshot of the Florida Keys), but I've never heard of anyone swimming the 100 miles or so across the Berring Strait. Feb 02 06, 12:10 AM
