Why doesn't NASA offer advertising (i.e: logos on the space shuttle) to fund some of its missions?

    Question #62252. Asked by LeakyPickle.

We do have logos, the US federal government's, they are the wealthiest funder in the world.

As mochyn points out - not many buyers out in space. That we know about, anyway....

It would make sense...especially the first few times it would happen. Media would cover it. Logos on spacesuits, rovers, etc. Assuming the space program would benefit and grow (and it would), certainly more media coverage would follow. In fact, with sponsors prompting media coverage, it may inspire the younger generation to take more of an interest in the space program.

Funding is the biggest inhibitor of NASA moving forward with most of their goals. It's simply a way of being advantageous and making commercialism work for them.

I'd rather see NASA benefit than some idiot sports player.

I mainly wanted to see if anyone knew of NASA's official position on this...

This site explains some of Nasa'a advertising policy. Although not specific to your question they are very strict on this:

Thanks memento - Kind of a shame their policy appears to be so strict.
