When did Toyota adopt their current logo? I don't think they had a logo before the late 1980s.

This is a surprisingly difficult question to find the answer to! I hope someone has more luck than me. I suspect you're right that the current logo came into use in the late 80's though. I've got two Toyotas - my old '85 Corolla just has TOYOTA in plain script on the front and my '92 Estima has the current logo.
The original Toyota logo was a circle with Toyota written in katakana script. The number of strokes used to write Toyota on the logo was apparently significant in changing the company name to Toyota from the original Toyoda family name. There's information about that at this site: http://www.mdzclub.org/articles/toyotaname.pdf

O what a feeling.
"In 1990, Toyota debuted the three overlapping Ellipses logo on American vehicles. The Toyota Ellipses symbolize the unification of the hearts of our customers and the heart of Toyota products. The background space represents Toyota’s technological advancement and the boundless opportunities ahead."
Another installment here of my quiz. Up to 'I' now where I give you a scenario and.......oh if you don't know how it works by now look at my others.....Enjoy!
