What sort of influential person are some Olympic skiers likely to bump into several times on the way down their course and can you explain this etymology?

    Question #62341. Asked by gmackematix.

How about a mogul, which in freestyle skiing refers to the bumps that skiers must negotiate? It also refers to a rich, powerful, or influential person, often a businessman.

The ski term, according to this site may come from Old Norse for "heap." In the second sense, it seems to be derived from "Moghul" -- the Muslim dynasty that once ruled India.
