    Does the United States have an embassy in every country that is a member of the UN?

    Five Countries that the U.S. Doesn't Work With.

    These five countries do not have official diplomatic relations with (nor an embassy in) the United States.

    Bhutan

    Mountainous Bhutan is under control of a military junta and has no formal diplomatic relations with the United States. Informal contact is maintained through the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.

    Cuba

    Although the island country of Cuba is a close neighbor to the United StatesS, the US only interacts with Cuba via the Swiss Embassy in Havana and Washington D.C.

    Iran

    Theocratic republic Iran officially contacts the United States though the Pakistani Embassy in Washington D.C.

    North Korea

    The communist dictatorship of North Korea is not on friendly terms with the U.S.

    Taiwan

    Taiwan is not recognized as an independent country by the U.S.

    having lived in Bhutan I can assure you that it is not ruled by a miltary junta. Whilst the army is the main police force the country is a constitutional monarchy under the wise auspices of King Wangchuck.
