This is an entertaining question. I choose God.

I'd choose God too, because he's eternal and the others are not.

Not according to Nietzsche! >;)--->
Anyway, I'll tell you the answer ain't God.

I'd choose God because he/she is the only one with an odd number of letters in his/her name. Also- God is the most unrealistic person or character of the bunch.(my apologies to those in the audience who are in fact religious)

Eminem...no "o" in his name???

Could be God because you can reverse the letters and get another word - dog - and you can't with the others. Could be Popeye - the only cartoon character in the bunch. Could be Iago - the only character in a Shakespeare play. Could be Dido - the only Carthaginian queen (unless you mean the modern singer or whatever she is).I agree about Eminem, as well - no O. Could be Gloria Gaynor, even - the only one with no good reason to be the odd one out! (Apart from her having two words.) Well, that's taken care of all of them......

Just checking in before a lecture, so this may be a little messy.
The clue here was given to me by Popeye and God, both of whom are well known for the statement "I am what I am." (In God's case, that's in Exodus 3; translations may differ. In Popeye's case, it's really "I yam what I yam.") Gloria Gaynor is known for a song called "I Am What I Am," and this lyric appears in Dido Armstrong's song "Here With Me" and in Eminem's "The Way I Am" (actually, "I am what you say I am.")
On the other hand, in "Othello," Act 1, scene 1, line 65, Iago says, "I am not what I am."

That sounds like the right answer for one of GM's questions...

Yay Frankie! Gloria Gaynor's "I Am What I Am" was from the musical "La Cage Aux Folles".
Popeye's catchphrase was indeed "I yam what I yam".
Eminem's actually rapped "I am whatever you say I am" in "The Way I Am" (which I did on karaoke for a bet once).
Dido (Cloud de Florian) Armstrong did sing "Oh, I am what I am" in the chorus of "Here With Me".
In my Bible, God says to Moses "I AM THAT I AM" (including capitalisation).
I don't know what Iago is if he isn't what he is but what he is here is the odd one out.

Really Baloo. Not being in a Shakespeare play or not being cartoon characters are hardly specific factors linking five of the others are they?

For the future reference of those working on gmack's questions: you have to approach them indirectly, because gmack is fiendishly devious, and the answers are rarely obvious. Take NOTHING at face value.

Now come on. You can have a negative connection just as you can have a negative bank balance. You try telling the manager that all that negative money isn't real...
|
gmackematix
|
Where did I say you couldn't have a negative connection?
My complaint was that your attempted connections were too weak to justify any of them being the odd one out.

Eminem's name doesn't contain an "O".

"I Am Who I Am" says the Lord
(Exodus 3:13-15)
Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you': this is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations."

Thank you. I knew the answer because it is a very important part of the scriptures. My question was concerning the particular wording used by GMAC.
|
gmackematix
|
My wording ("I AM THAT I AM") is from the King James Version of the Bible.

Upon further research GMACK, I see you are correct.
