The boat is built outside the jug. The hull of the boat, by itself can be fit into the jug. The mast and the sails are attached to the hull in a horizontal position, but with strings attached to them. The boat is then put into the jug, the strings pulled, which then raises the mast and sails. I imagine that the strings are in a slip knot and when pulled, they come right out.

In England we talk about a 'ship in a bottle'. This implies a narrow necked bottle such as a wine bottle, which causes one to wonder just how the ship was put in.
A jug in this country is a wide mouthed container, usually ceramic but not very often glass, so that there is would be no problem getting the model ship in.

On many milk jugs, it will specifically state, "drink before this date," so I know when it wil go bad, but sometimes it just says "buy before this date," but that does not mean it will go bad on that date, so how many days is it good to drink before it goes bad? Why do they not just say drink before this date on all of them? Are they doing this on purpose?
