Many of us are familiar with her talents, but they went unrecognized by the public until the press blew her cover (thereby, perhaps, preventing someone better known from winning an Academy Award). She has given "tone" to a Cockney, a Puerto Rican, a sojourner in an exotic land, some angels, and a goose, but it was not until she took the veil that her face was actually seen. Who is this long unsung lady?

Marni Nixon
Cockney--sang for Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair lady"
Puerto Rican-sang for Rita Moreno in "West Side Story"
Sojourner-sang for Deborah Kerr in "The King and I"
Took the veil--She was one of the nuns who sang in "The Sound of Music"
Goose--You got me.

She was the singing voice of three geese in Mary Poppins.

All right, Milton, you get a yay! for Marni, and Sabine gets an honorable mention for the geese. Or goose, as the case may be. And she sang for the angels heard by Ingrid Bergman in "Joan of Arc."
Still, I'd prefer a little research and a site. Marni Nixon did help out Rita Moreno in "West Side Story," but she is much better known for dubbing the voice of Natalie Wood in that film:
