That is absolutely disguting - they would never allow murderers etc to be sterilized yet more people are injured/killed by people every year than by Pitbulls, and when humans attack they know violence is wrong whilst animals don't understand our concepts of right and wrong, and therefore react according to their instincts or to follow their owners commands, and Pitbulls are obvious choices for irresponsible people who want a powerful dog. May i ask why they are trying to get rid of Pitbulls? In England you are more likely to be attacked by several breeds such as Golden Labs than you are by Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and you are much more likely to be attacked by a Staffie then a Pitbull because Pitbulls are banned therefore you have to have a license to keep one.

Certain breeds are higher risk than others not because of the dog itself so much as the sort of person that keeps it. Think cars for a moment. Is a high risk boy racer going to have a Reliant Robin? The trouble with pit bulls is that many of the owners are involved with drug dealing or dog-fighting (if not both). (OK, there are people that have them that don't fit those categories. There may be a Reliant Robin with spoilers and an enlarged exhaust and 500 watt speakers.) The pit bull doesn't have much other reason for being kept. You're right that it isn't the dogs' fault. But it can make life safer for other people. Personally, I've most often been attacked by Jack Russells, which (from my point of view) have the advantage of being slightly loftable) like rugby balls). I don't believe in being cruel to animals, but I do believe in protecting Baloo's legs and have no intention of being anyone or anything's supper. (Personally I prefer cats.)

Neutering or sterelizing pets is not cruel!
Vets and other people involved with pet care always recommend it.
I recently adopted two kittens from a private agency and I had to sign an agreement that I would have them neutered and sterelized.
By preventing pets from reproducing that reduces the amount of unwanted pets from suffering.
The operations themselves are not painful procedures for the animals.
Now if you want to talk about pets being "forced to endure" talk about all the cats that suffer from being declawed, but we'll leave that for the chats.

neutering is a necessary thing. it lowers the chances of dogs and cats suffering and dying on the street because their owners did not get them neutered. however, pit bulls are not overly aggressive, and it is ridiculous that they would eliminate the population of a dog that only attacks if it is trained to.

That's the point I was making - it's not so much the dog, it's more the owners. Most of the people that have pit bulls shouldn't have any dog - and don't forget I'm not referring to the small number of responsible, respectable owners of pit bulls. I'm referring to the ones for whom a pit bull is a part of their standard equipment, along with the BMW convertible, the shades, and the hoods. You know what I mean.
