    It wasn't called the Final Four back then, but the championship was held in Evanston, IN, at Patten Gym. Ducks vs Buckeyes, 46-33 resp.

    You're right, dave, the question and the answer assumes everyone's on the same page. Final Four became the buzz words for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship tournament back in the early 50s, and the Final Four refers to the climax of the tourny, wherein the last four winning teams from all over the country duke it out for bragging rights to being Number 1, as in undefeated.
