There are also several spinoff movies, including "Ewoks: The Battle for Endor", "The Ewok Adventure", "Star Wars: The Holiday Special" and "Return of the Ewok".

What's interesting about this is that when "Star Wars" first came out, I understood that it was the first movie of a planned nine-movie group... e.g. the first trilogy ("A New Hope" etc.) was the middle trilogy of three trilogies... The most recent set of three movies are the "prequel"... Of course, I haven't heard anything about plans for another trilogy for a very long time now... I'm wondering if anyone else remembers anything like what I recall?

There are 9 original books written.
Star Wars (A New Hope) was episode IV,
Followed by:
The Empire Strikes Back Episode V
Return of the Jedi Episode VI
The Phantom Menace Episode I
The Clone Wars Episode II
Revenge of the Sith Episode III
The director was recently asked if he would continue with the last three books in the series and he at this point in time has declined production. But as we all know these things may change.

Here is a link to the Star Wars movies and how they did in box office. :-)
Also, since your last post, more Star Wars spinoffs and such have been added, such as "Star Wars: Clone Wars," an animated movie, followed by a TV series, both in 2008.

There are 6 episodes and 6 books. They were released a little out of order though. The first one written was released 4th. (Order of release)
1. The Phantom Menace
2. The Attack of the Clones (not the Clone Wars)
3. Revenge of the Sith (my favorite)
4. A New Hope (Origonally called the Adventures of Luke Skywalker)
5. The Empire Strikes Back
6. The Return of the Jedi
