According to my dictionary that is "Panthera uncia." The genus name is usually capitalised and the species name isn't. I always thought 'ounce' was a strange name for a big cat. Uncia uncia. Initially it was Panthera uncia as it was belived to be from the panthera familly. Later it was distinguished as not a true leopard so the scientific name changed. Feb 22 07, 3:24 AM
