    Who were the Chipmunks named after?

    		The Chipmunks; Alvin, Simon and Theodore; were named after executives at Liberty Records. This was where Ross Bagdasarian aka Dave Seville recorded his novelty hits such as "The Witch Doctor".

    		Rather than waste a new thread, can anyone add when they changed the official name from the chipmunks to Alvin and the chipmunks- and they also appear to have undergone a revival from when I remember them in the 60s though they seem never to have gone away.

    		The original outbreaks of Chipmunks and Pinky and Perky were both before my time.
    My childhood was plagued with the high-pitched warbling of Smurfs instead. La la lalalalalalalala...
