There is both a Kansas City, Missouri, and a Kansas City Kansas, although the one in Missouri is much larger.

It is and it isn't. There is a Kansas City, Missouri and a Kansas City, Kansas. The metropolitan area straddles the border between the two states.
This site has links to both KC, Missouri and KC, Kansas. It's a great place to visit.
