LSU (#11) beat Kentucky (#1), 1986. In what has to qualify as one of the greatest upsets of the modern tourney era, LSU upended top-seeded Kentucky 59-57 to become the only 11 seed to reach the Final Four. What did LSU have that the other two 11 seeds didn't (not that you'd ever pick an 11 seed to advance this far)? In 1970 my hometown JU Dolphins astounded the NCAA by coming from nowhere and whupping Kentucky on the way to the final, where they lost to John Wooden's Bruins.
