In computer science an average line of code is taken to be 60 characters. Bearing this in mind, how many lines of code are there in the latest version of the Microsoft Windows operating system and how many people were needed to put this code together?

Way off the mark, Eggy.
I'm no sure about the latest version but according to several sites about computer science, the Windows XP operating system has over 55 million lines of code put together by 7,200 people.
If they were to check it over until they could guarantee it was bug free, it probably wouldn't be released for another couple of years.
