If we breathe out carbon dioxide and breathe in air, isn't it bad to breathe carbon dioxide into someone when you're giving mouth to mouth?

Your exhaled breath is not pure carbon dioxide - your body isn't able to absorb all the oxygen you breathe in. The air you breathe in has about 20% oxygen, the air you breathy out still has about 15% oxygen, so you are actually giving them oxygen with your breaths.

Besides, the function of a mouth to mouth is to pump up the lungs so that the unconscious person can breathe on his/her own. Any gas is preferable to a collapsed or overcompressed lung.

The lungs are very inefficient and absorb on a small percentage of the oxygen in every breath we take so there is plenty left over for the person receiving your 'afterbreath'.
