It seems that it wasn't a real frog. Good thing, too.

On the little desk in the sitting room lies the writing set that Grieg used on his travels. We might consider it his lap-top. Grieg wrote almost 20 000 letters in the course of his life, as well as a large number of articles.
His three mascots are here, too. The red troll, the pig with a four-leaf clover in its mouth, and his lucky frog - they accompanied him everywhere. His favourite was the frog, which he carried in his coat pocket when he conducted or performed. Before stepping onto the stage, he would put his hand in his pocket and rub his lucky frog. And he always had the troll and the pig on his bedside table. According to Nina, he always said "Good night" to them.
