    The lodestone, before it eventually found a more accurate and practical purpose, was used by sorcerers, seers and holy men for foutune telling, geomancy and the like. I still carry one with me to the golf course, just in case I love my way in the woods.

    Omphalos (meaning navel) is a religious stone artifact. According to the ancient Greeks, Zeus sent out two eagles to fly across the world to meet at its center, the "navel" of the world. Omphalos stones, to denote this point, were erected in several areas surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, the most famous of those was at the oracle in Delphi. Omphalos stones were said to allow direct communication with the gods.
