    Do mushrooms grow after they come out of the ground?

    		Mine have all grown on TOP of the "mixture"...which is not to say that is how they all grow.

    		If you buy button mushrooms, and leave them for a few days, they keep on growing in size - the stalks lengthen and the caps open. Bit like cut flowers in a vase, but without the water.

    		It is known that the oyster mushroom (one of my favourites for flavour) continues to grow after being picked.

    I know many fruits and vegetables are eaten because they contain many vitamins and minerals, however, mushrooms are fungi. Is there actually any nutritious value to eating mushrooms or is it only for taste? The same with lettuce, what is the nutritious value of eating lettuce?

    Since carrots and other veggies don't have seeds, how do they grow from the ground using seeds? Secondly, how do they get the seeds to grown them?

    If you boil fresh mushrooms in water then even after hours on the stove the liquid still doesn't have have any real mushroom flavor, but if you boil sun dried or dehydrated mushrooms for just fifteen minutes you end up with a deep brown liquid that has a very strong mushroom flavor. Why?
