Which famous character in a 19th century novel is said to have been based on a foreign author who outstayed his welcome?

Question #64993. Asked by gmackematix. (Apr 24 06 6:51 PM)

I suspect the foreign author who overstayed his welcome could have been Hans Christian Anderson and the 19th century novelist could be Charles Dickens. But...that's all I can find.

"Invited for a holiday with Charles Dickens, previously one of his admirers, he so outstayed his welcome that Dickens put up a note which remarked unkindly that "Hans Andersen slept in this room for five weeks -which seemed to the family AGES!" Dickens never communicated with him again."

Zbeck gets the yay, but Uriah Heep in "David Copperfield" has been thought by some to be based on Andersen:
