    Question #65033. Tamarind_Ja asks:

Is there a map anywhere online of the proposed route of the north coast highway (leg 3) in Jamaica?

    McGruff

    I can't find a map anywhere.

The project will be executed in three segments,
Segment 1 - Negril to Montego Bay (75km)
Segment 2 - Montego Bay to Ocho Rios (95km)
Segment 3 - Ocho Rios to Fair Prospect in Portland (119km)

Segment 3 (Ocho Rios to Fair Prospect) of the North Coast Highway Improvement Project is expected to get underway during the first half of 2004.
The contract for its construction is expected to go to tender by next February and work should begin within five months after the signing. The duration of the contract is slated to be 30 months with completion date being targeted for January, 2007. The roadway from Ocho Rios to Buff Bay is expected to have a design life of 14 years while the section from Buff Bay to Fair Prospect should last for 20 years.
Additionally, nine new bridges will be constructed while 22 existing ones will be rehabilitated. On the matter of land acquisition for the purpose of facilitating road construction, only small strips of land are being taken in most cases and fencing removed during the process will be replaced by the contractor. Work will also involve the relocation of approximately 450 Jamaica Public Service Company and Cable and Wireless utility poles. Work on the Ocho Rios to Fair Prospect leg represents the third and final segment of the road development project. The Project started with the Negril to Montego Bay leg while the second leg involves the Montego Bay to Ocho Rios leg.
