Ok, took me a moment or two to syphon through the hay and other fodder to get to the optional tour details and find where you got your answer from. Yes, Tassie is the largest exporter of legal opium for pharmaceutical supplies. Burma and Afghanistan lead the way with the largest supply of illegal/illicit productions of the drug.
Tassie was chosen for a number of reasons, one being the ideal farming conditions of the positioning along the 41st parallel, and the limited population for security reasons.
