    The ground crews of the American space program have over the decades made countless advances in science in attempts to get people up into space and back down to Earth safely. Have flight directors and crew directors won any Nobel Prizes or other such awards for their advances?

    I'm not certain that any flight directors and ground crew members have won Nobels -- I don't think so, because they don't do that sort of research work, but I'll keep looking. However, here's a Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist who works with NASA and who has made a contribution to space exploration:
