    How many pennies does it take to make one pound?

    		1968 was the year of decimalization of the British currency when a pound became 100 new pennies. Prior to that a pound was 20 shillings, a shilling twelve pence (pennies) and the smallest division of a penny was a farthing. Four farthings would make a penny.
