    If you drop a big stone from your boat into the pond you're in, will the level of the water in pond rise or fall?

    		I vote for this answer: The water level in the water would fall as rocks are dropped over the side. When the rocks are in the water they displace a volume of water equal to the volume of the rocks. When the rocks are in the boat they displace a weight of water that is equal to the weight of the rocks. Since rocks are more dense then the water they displace a greater volume in the boat then out of it.

    		What about the volume of water that is displaced by the boat with the rock on it in the first place? Just curious... *grin*

    		I tend to agree with Josh's idea.

    The level of the water is already being effected by the mass of the stone in the boat, by dropping the stone in the water the water's level will stay the same.
