Are there any autocratic (non-parliamentary) kingdoms left in the world, as of May 2006?

No shortage at all- Saudi Arabia, most other Arab countries, China, Cuba, North Korea, and many many more. Democracy is far from universal!

I asked for kingdoms. So China, Cuba and North Korea do not count.
As for the Arab countries, most of them are republics. Saudi Arabia, though, is an absolutist kingdom. And I suppose you could add Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, but probably not Jordan? In Asia, after the recent events in Nepal, the king of Bhutan seems to be the only absolutist king left.

The UAE isn't a kingdom, actually. It's a Federation and it has a President, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler of Abu Dhabi. http://www.government.ae/gov/en/gov/federal/president.jsp
