Wow, almost simultaneous answers. O.K., the yay must be split. Peasy gets half for the "bascule" answer, but zbeck gets the other half for the "double-leaf" term. This event on the Michigan Avenue Bridge in Chicago this afternoon drew a huge and attentive crowd of natives and tourists. It was astonishing to see these enormous and towering bridge leaves rising slowly above the street and the traffic.
